Robotics Engineer (Full-Time) - Posted 3/14/08

Advanced Technology & Research Corporation is seeking a robotics engineer for a cross-disciplinary team that develops robotic systems for unstructured environments. Our current projects include the development of the control system for a motion-compensated, shipboard crane and the development of a shipboard, inertially stabilized UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) recovery system. Job Description:

  • Participate as a team member on robotic system development projects.

  • Apply technical expertise in the area of sensor-based control to both manipulator and vehicle systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field (M.S. or PhD preferred).

  • Project-related experience in robot control. Experience in nonlinear control a plus.

  • Perform mechanical design, including concept generation and analysis of components for novel computer-controlled, electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic machines

CNC Programmer / Machinist for Hass Mill (Full-Time) - Posted 3/14/08

A full-time, qualified part programmer is needed for our Systems Automation Division in Columbia, MD. This position will be involved in parts programming, electromechanical prototypes and in production of aluminum and steel parts.

Job Description:

  • Manage the operations of the machine shop - Maintain project and general stock materials, keep tools calibrated, maintain supplies, and keep the shop organized.
  • Machining Operations
  • Project Support - Review designs and make drawings and recommendations where appropriate. Review tolerances on components, machines, and whole systems as required.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in safe operations of all basic fabrication tools - grinders, saws, drill press, etc.

Engineer (Full-Time)

Job Description: 

Position is with a small and rapidly growing laboratory group performing analysis, design, test planning, test direction, data analysis, and applications programming in support of the design, deployment, operation, and data reduction of electro-magnetic sensors and associated systems, and naturally occurring electro-magnetic phenomena relative to the operation of Navy ships.  Job experience with the Navy and other DoD laboratories is a plus.  

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Applied Math or Physics.
  • Experience, coursework and interest in the following areas a plus:  finite element analysis, computer programming, numerical methods, physics, solid mechanics, dynamics, analog electronics design, data acquisition and analysis, and electro-magnetism.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the entire life-cycle of product development working with engineering leads, architects, analysts and program managers

  • Help implement the overall design of applications ranging from the Data Access Layer all  the way through the UI layers

Facility Engineer [Senior Analyst] (Full-Time)

Openings: 1 

Job Description:  

  • Participate in all aspects of Navy Facility acquisition, design, construction and activation.
  • Assist in the development of Basic Facility Requirement (BFR) documentation to support facility acquisition.
  • Develop other acquisition documentation such as DD1391’s, Cost Estimates, high level design concepts and assist in development of facility acquisition justification briefings.
  • Compile user requirements and develop Design Criteria Documents to detail all facility requirements in a format easily understand by the Architect and Engineer assigned to actually design the facility.
  • Participate in design meetings and review/comment on design drawings/specifications.
  • Participate during construction by attending QC meetings, reviewing change orders for design impact and conducting walk-throughs to ensure facility is being constructed according to the drawings and specifications.
